Who owns the time?
I see you, product of a thousand hands
and I hear your glories, sold in foreign lands
I hear you stand above the common man
who illuminates you just right.
For precious few, memory's a birthright.
Who owns our minds?
(Foci join in spotlight,
Prism-like, to bright white)
I see you, glorious in humble hue
I hear you, spirit spilling to renew,
that I can't demonstrate, this biased view
reflects such a poor sight.
And a thousand lights aren't enough to make it right.
But dynasties are built by tearing down our betters
And seeing men as sets of cash and letters
But who here doesn't care to be remembered?
--but I can't feel fine!
I stand, a piece of a kaleidoscope
One of a million means of reading hope
I want to see them all, I want the brilliance of the scope.
How can we all survive
when the Illuminating Self must fight the drive to be described?
Dynasties are built by tearing down our betters
Seeing men as naught but sets of cash and letters
Dynasties are built by tearing down our betters
Seeing men as naught but sets of cash and letters
(I've got this, I can see this;
More than most, I--I can be this
and who here doesn't care to be remembered? )
Do I really need to prove a dominance of form?
Here I come, let's join together, redefine the norm.
Must I truly be a monument? Or run forth unadorned?
Will someone listen if I don't leave you torn?
Light falls all around but I am not going mad.
For what is my legacy if not the life we have?
What good's ambition that tramples the innocent?
And breaks their backs to secure the inconsequent?

It’s morning outside
Is it too good to ride
A coin says
I’ll bet that you do
I wanted to think
but I started to sink
Till I found a sweet thought
Made of you
I’ll go back sleep but if
I go too deep
You know it’s true
I’ll be totally blue
Well don’t mind my fear
I’ll just talk in your ear
Until you wish that
You never knew me
I’m coming along
But my tears sing a song
What will I do oh what will I do
Keep me at bay
say you want me to stay
I guess I’ll stick around
If you want me to
But I’m totally blue
Keep me away
If you want me to stay
I would never do a thing
To alarm you
Yeah wanted that job but
I think I forgot
To apply
Do you think that I had to
I’m starting to sink
But I hope you don’t think
That I’m blue.
I’m totally blue like a peanut
I’m blue like the sun
I’m blue like a cherry
I’m blue, everyone
I’m blue for the future
I’m blue for the one
I’m blue for a keyhole
I’m blue till I’m done
I’m blue like a peanut
I’m blue like the sun
I’m blue like a cherry
I’m blue, everyone
I’m blue

I first saw you paint the edges of my sister's hair vibrant
You've been hiding in a garden in South American for centuries
Fuchsia
When they first found you you were striking and breathtaking to behold
Dancing on the feet of women that have nothing left but them and the sunrise
You awake even before the sun does
You are running across the sky with oranges and yellows telling everyone that it's a new day

Loin
au fond des racines,
je bois
et je me saoule.
Près
des sources latines,
là bas,
la musique coule
et tourne en rond
Marron
couleur
moisson
Marron
odeur
saison
Marron
au cœur
des chansons
Il y a la vie
qui tourne en rond, tourne en rond
Sous
les feux de la lune,
je brûle
mon âme indienne.
Mes
refrains ont des plumes,
là-haut,
je vis ma bohème
et tourne en rond
Marron
couleur
moisson
Marron
odeur
saison
Marron
au cœur
des chansons
Il y a la vie
qui tourne en rond, tourne en rond
Marron
couleur
moisson
Marron

Marron

qui tourne en rond, tourne en rond

Beige,
You do not scream or shout or yell or rhyme or paint a picture.
You sit and wait and wait some more and be and be and be.
You are default, the flatland, simple. Stretching out and stretching in.
You are what’s left when all is gone. Under false and fake and pretend.
You have never pushed, or been pushed.
You are simply what’s been.
So be beige, fellow beige, if you dare to be beige
For a summer, or moment or breath.

Sitting and watching the waves crashing by,
The stillness, the deepness asking me why.
Hidden with wonders, treasures deep,
Filling the caverns they silently sleep.
You don't see me.
You don't see me.
You don't see me, as I am.
Waiting for someone to search the unknown,
Horrors and splendors together have grown.
Honest and fragile the shadows too much,
Fear of the unknown has left it untouched.
You don't know me.
You don't know me.
You don't know me as I am.
Hidden with wonder my treasures I keep
Ready to show you but you won't dive deep
Oh how you make my feelings awake but with each passing moment
my heart will break
You don't see me.
You don't see me.
You won't won't see me as I am.

First sip:
It’s sucking pickles off the sun,
poison chlorophyll,
spring buds & flu snot -
All I needed was one good excuse.
Didn’t know what I missed till I tasted chartreuse.
It’s grassy beer,
shocked avocado,
lemon-lime shadow —
The perfect shade to guzzle & seduce.
Life is chartreuse.
Chartreuse harlot-grins:
Come with me, run,
we’ll go mouth-to-mouth anytime you choose ...
And I'll thumb a ride —
escape, call a truce —
Forget I’m the careful monk,
the ignorant blissful,
drink it all down thanking god
I’m close, I’m close, I’m close ...

On a lonely mountaintop, I view the world from high above
And you're nowhere I can see, but I swear I'll be with you once more my love
'Cause I know you're out there
I know you're out there
For me to find, for me to find...
So I venture down to Earth and plunge into the cold, grey wild
But you fueled my blood and bones and I've finally left my wayward pride behind
I know you're out there
I know you're out there
For me to find, for me to find...
Did I somehow hurt you?
Disarm then subvert you?
What did I do to you to make you run and hide?
Oh I need you by my side
because I'll die...alone.
I know you're out there
I know you're out there
For me to find, for me to find...

Silver was told
To just sit there
And
Act refined.
Don’t dare to
Upstage Gold who
Was always solid
And in demand.
But, silver refused
And joined grey who
Walked like a panther
And spoke about
Truth.
Grey led silver
Out
Of the cage
And in
To the light
Where, hand in hand
They paved the path
For freedom
For justice
For silver

She stays home every day
Her thoughts they go astray
Into a cloud of grey
She lies in her darkened room
And hides from the outside world
It's a long way home for the long lost girl
She wants to live this way
Can you please understand
That she won't take your hand
She lives for this grey day
She likes to crawl away
To where it’s so safe
a sadness so cliché
Here beneath a vacant sky
She hopes the sun will never rise
It's a long way home for the long lost girl
She wants to live this way
Can you please understand
That she won't take your hand
She lives for this grey day
She’s So Grey
She’s So Grey
She’s So Grey
She’s So Grey

Bistre
rarely spoken
barely said
always there in shades of grey
that hang like clouds
like the secret swallow
like the elephant underneath the tongue
a hue
of transition
dissatisfaction
the zenith of questions
before a more predictable
less interesting end
or simply
it is the stain we'd rather overlook
like the day I left you leaving me
in the color of unfinished business
the tincture of the space in between
it is what we were
might be what we'll always be
bistre

Floating
Between your dreams
And my reality
Movin’ across the floor
With your reckless ease
Music dancing in between
the falling leaves
Because you told me to
I left it up to you
And if they ask you who
Tell them I was only passing through
Free fall
through the cracks
of uncertainty
Fortune telling woman,
Try and comfort me
With your gypsy eyes
Everlasting blue
Hold me in your gaze
while I surrender all to you
When the day is through
I lie and think of you
There’s nothing I can do
You were always only passing through
I’m standing on the outside looking in
Push my back up firm against the wind
Oh babe why won't you let me in
Waiting for you to see
through insecurity
Let go and set me free
because you to told me to
I left it up to you
There’s nothing left do
You and I are always passing through
You and I are always passing through

Gold
[Solid]
When the game is tight
When the heat is on
She's the one you turn to
[Fixin' all the wrongs]
Gold
[Protectin' all your rights]
Solid
Luxury, elegance
no time for 18 karat
she's always in demand
super. gold.
always says can
she's gold
[solid]
Stay golden, baby

Oh Cerulean when I'm out of sight
I'll only be alright
So long as you're by my side
Shine on down, you're the only light I'll see
tonight it's just you and me
Cerulean
Each time I look
for someone sweet
I find I've only got your company
words won't say just what I mean
and they leave me unseen
Oh Cerulean I just can't stay
I'll only find my way
up through yesterday
On the road you're the only light I see
tonight it's just you and me
Cerulean
I ain't got no plans
No complications
and the lay of the land
provides no destination
I'll only find some peace between
searchin' for the unseen
Sometimes I'm lost and I prefer it that way
Sometimes I'm at a loss for the words I wanna say
Oh but then I can't hide
from the thoughts that try to guide
me astray
Oh Cerulean wash away the night
the morning's shining bright
We've made it to the other side
No longer in the dark I now can see
The light it was you and me
Cerulean

Yellow is supposed to be mellow, but I disagree.
Perhaps yellow felt too bright when it first arrived.
The other colors didn't know what to make of her.
Red was Fiery.
Orange was Offbeat.
Pink? Well...you know Pink.
Yellow had to Pale in comparison.
That was the spectrally-acceptable thing to do.
But it's a different time now.
Yellow no longer needs to be mellow.
When we arrive. You will notice.
When we show up. You have been warned.
Don't. Fuck. With. Yellow.
And now you know.

Green is the color, the color of free
Hey do you have it, do you get what you need?
Right down the spine, Israel-Palestine
entwined, in a bind -- the Green Line
One law for all? Bon chance!
there’s a word for that in Afrikaans...
Border’s ad hoc, unseemly, ugly
call us Tone Loc, Medina’s funky
Not easy being green, if you know what I mean
k’she-lo shavim lifnei ha-din
{“when we’re not equal before the law”}
Security wall? Check the planned route
Green Monster grabs a land loot.
DIssident? pacifist? Hell, no.
slacktivist, call me yellow.
I feel blue, OH! I guess I’m green, too.
I’m bribed, imbibed their strange brew.
Green is the color, the color of free
Hey do you have it, do you get what you need?
I mean you’ll get shot, without a doubt
بالزبط متل صيد البط
Hey come on man, yes this is how we live
{I don’t want to adapt, I want to live
Without handcuffs and checkpoints
If you're afraid please don’t come
Cause you’ll die
I thought my life was normal, but the effect of TV on me
Made me realize that the Palestinians are different from the whole world
Our country is so beautiful, but we can’t visit it because of the hard situation
Our sea is right there I have its photo, but all we got from it is its moisture
Imagine only wearing boxers in summer and nothing more, you can say I don’t want to be late to the checkpoint and what more dangerous is walking on the green line cause your soul will be transferred, and your head will explode.
I mean you’ll get shot, without a doubt, exactly like hunting ducks
Hey come on man, yes this is how we live}
Green is the color, the color of free
Hey do you have it, do you get what you need?
Oye gringo, que quieres tu conmigo
{Listen white man, what do you want with me?}
You want me to work and yet you call me an illegal
Immigration laws got me runnin' like a criminal
No quiere ilegales, pero a latino en especifico
{You don't want illegals, specifically latinos}
I don't need a green card, to be identified
as an indigenous man my ancestors were the rulers
before you came to this land.
Green is the color, the color of free
Hey do you have it, do you get what you need?
Green cards to green backs
Buy your citizenship if you can't afford the tax
It's the persuit of happiness racing with hella rats
Jumpin' through shiny hoops and fallin' into the traps
So you spend it all until it's gone you can't pay rent but got an iPhone
About to change that when I flower these clones
Legalize weed keep my money homegrown
Get off the grid
Get out the zone
Plane trip to the 3rd world then I'm gone
Green is the color, is the color of free
Hey do you have it, do you get what you need?
How do you get what you need?
Green it is the color, the color of free
Do you have it? How do you get what you need?

Tan is the future, man
When one ponders the question of
Whether Tan is half brown or half white,
As in the proverbial glass being half full or half empty.
Tan doesn’t care which it is.
It only knows that it is what we will all be
(In five or six generations.)
But Tan isn’t coming for you like the Terminator.
Relax.
Call it mocha if it helps.
Café au Lait or dulce de leche.
Graham…cracker?
From you.
To me.
Tan is just what we will be.

My name is Jimmy I'm never late
To work the hardware, mixing paint
I live in a house my parents hate
I'm failing
I got to work my gear was down
I looked for help no one's around
I think I'd rather smoke a pound
I'm sailing
Something happened during the fix
The next time that I went to mix
I think my mind is playing tricks
Cause I fell in
I'm in a world I've never seen
It's dark and damp and mostly green
The poster on the wall reads,
"Have you seen Magenta?"
I gotta make it out
I gotta make it out
The silence is so loud
Magenta
I asked someone who's in the know
They said, "she was kidnapped months ago.
It's up to you please Jimmy go and save her!"
The person said, "she's being held
In the Greenies' prison cell
To get her back you'll go through hell
But you'll save us all"
"You see, Magenta holds the key
This world was never really green
It's filled with vibrant color schemes
That she can bring"
And so I ventured on my way
To save Magenta and the day
And if I'm a success they say
I'll make it home
I gotta get her out
I gotta get her out
Hear all the people shout
Magenta
We finally made it out
We finally made it out
I'll stay without a doubt
Marry Magenta
Start a family
Eat a sandwich
This place is pretty cool
